The harvest here at Poggio Molina is coming to an end for this year as well. And for this year Alba, Adriano and all the members of the family can say with certainty: an excellent year!
After the difficult harvest of 2017, which gave us satisfaction in terms of quality but certainly not for the quantity produced, 2018 looks satisfactory from both points of view.
The warm and sunny days of September and the strong differences in temperature between day and night allowed the grapes to ripen in the best possible way, increasing day by day their sugar content and quality. The absence of humidity and morning fog also allowed the grapes to remain dry and completely intact.
On the other hand, the harsh winter, the abundant rainfall and the spring sunshine ensured that the plants woke up in the best possible way and had great vigour, thus giving the possibility to increase production. The alternation of mild days and new rains in June gave the right nutrients to the growing bunches.
And so we arrived at the longed-for grape harvest: the Tuscan sun (scorching in the first weeks) put our resistance in the fields to the test, but the satisfaction of seeing the fruits of the work of the whole year made us go on and finish in full joy!
We are waiting for the evolutions in the cellar, but for our great red wines of Tuscany keep 2018 in mind: it will be a great vintage!
